Lions rebound to beat FW Hill

The Weatherford Christian School six-man football team bounced back from a 56-6 loss in last week’s game against Irving Faustina to beat Fort Worth Hill School, 61-20, Friday night in Ft. Worth.  

WCS went in to the halftime locker room with a 38-14 lead and held the Hill Hawks to only one touchdown in the second half, given up early in the third quarter. 

The Lions offense was led by running back Cooper Bomar, with 17 rushes for 252 yards and three touchdowns.  Quarterback Austin Wheeling was 8 of 12 for 105 yards and a TD through the air. Wideout Colton Montgomery had five receptions for 102 yards and a score.  Running back and kicker Abraham Hernandez rushed for 108 yds with one touchdown and added a 40-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.  

The defense was led by senior lineman Jerry Weaver, who finished with 10 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Colton Montgomery also had an interception, and Tyler Hasenjager chipped in with a safety.


Hall, Tison cross country teams take first place at Aledo meet

The Hall Middle School and Tison Middle School cross country teams competed together Sept. 25 in the Aledo cross country meet. All athletes ran a two-mile course against three other teams, and the Weatherford girls and boys teams each took first place.

The girl’s team finished with 34 points, and the boys finished with 28 points. Individually, multiple athletes earned medals by placing in the top 20 of each division.
