Springtown volleyball sweeps Lady Bullfrogs

With a first-round match against Kennedale looming on Friday, the Lady Porcupines took care of business Tuesday, moving to 4-0 in District 6-3A play with a straight-set win at Lake Worth.

Ashley Mainord recorded 11 kills, seven digs and served up two aces as Pojo swept the home team, 25-14, 25-11, 25-12.

“We served well and put the ball away quickly, tonight,” said Springtown head coach Leighann Strickland.

Brooklyn Dauenhauer and Shelbi Meek also made their usual contributions, knocking down eight and seven kills, respectively. Meek led assists, setting up 19 and had eight digs. Abbi Hatton had two solo blocks.

With neither team dropping a set to the opposition in their four district wins, Kennedale and Springtown will have the first of their two showdowns on Friday. Springtown hosts the first meeting with a 5 p.m. start, and will travel to play the Lady Wildcats in the return match on  Oct. 29.
