Area, state prep football results - Week 10

— Blooming Grove offense outpaces Millsap, 48-13

Staff Report

The Bulldogs scored first, on its first possession of the game as Millsap closed out its District 6-2A, Div. II slate at Blooming Grove on Friday. Andrew Tyson capped off the early drive with a 3-yard run and Mitchell Coker added the PAT.

Coker, an offensive and defensive lineman, also scored a TD in the final period with a 1-yard plunge. But Millsap could not fill the middle quarters with points, as it fell to Grove, 48-13.

The Bulldogs, who revamped their schemes on both sides of the ball coming into the year, finish their season with a 1-6 district mark (2-8 overall) while breaking a winless streak dating back to the 2011 schedule.

Brock blasts Roosevelt as Gough ends prep career with three TDs

Staff Report

The Brock Eagles completed their “outlaw” schedule on Friday on a high note, handily beating Class 3A Dallas Roosevelt, 41-13. Senior Slaten Gough, Brock’s top scorer and yardage producer this season, put an exclamation point on his prep football career, rushing for two scores and passing for another.

“This was a great night, and a great year for our football program,” said Brock Athletic Director Scott Drillette.

Running back Leddy French began the scoring for the Eagles with a 10-yard run. With a failed point-after, the opening quarter ended with a 6-0 margin, but Brock heated up in the second. Gough ran in a 20-yard TD and tossed a 25-yard scoring strike to Kyle Thiel. Brock led 21-7 at the half.

The Eagles finish their inaugural all-varsity slate with an 8-2 mark. Brock football will join the UIL for the 2014 season. District alignments will be announced in February.
