Lady Roos bounce back with wins
Weatherford varsity softball had a busy weekend in District 3-5A play, carding a pair of wins after its loss last week to Arlington Martin.
On Friday, the Lady Roos defeated Paschal, 12-9. The WHS girls racked up 18 hits on the night, led by Ashleigh Erb’s four hits. Tawnye Bramlett and Liz Konig had three hits, including a home run each. Kelsey Horton added a double and three RBIs. Darrian Ross was the winning pitcher.
On Saturday, the Lady Roos took on Arlington High, with the bats remaining on fire for Weatherford, resulting in a 15-5 win. Erb kick-started the first inning with a solo homer, with Lauren Leach recording four of the Roos 15 hits on the day. Tawnye Bramlet added to the offensive firepower, hitting a grand slam and notching five RBIs. Meredith Dickey came off the bench for a pinch-hit 3-run homer to seal the deal.
Ross took the circle and was again the winning pitcher for WHS.
The Lady Roos were set to take on North Crowley on Tuesday, a team Weatherford run-ruled in their first district meeting.
Brock Blanks Lady Bulldogs, 10-0
With 13 hits from the Lady Eagles lineup, and as many strikeouts by starting pitcher Krysten Marr, Brock used the combination for a 10-0 win over Alvord on Monday.
Marr, who gave up just one hit in the game, struck out all Alvord batters at least once, fanning four in the order twice.
Brock’s Jordin Albertson had a pair of hits, with three RBIs, while Sierra Bradshaw went three-for-four, scoring a run and knocking in two more.
Aledo makes quick work of Tech, 15-0
The Aledo Ladycats made their 4-run first inning look relatively modest on Monday, as they took on Trimble Tech in a make-up game, from last week’s rain-out.
But after Aledo hurler Lauren Craine set the Lady Bulldogs down in order to start the second frame, the Ladycats poured on the offense, scoring 11 runs in the bottom half.
Rhylie Makawe and Alex Cook did most of the damage for Aledo, combining for three hits, seven RBIs and four runs scored.
Craine, who sat down all nine batters she faced, closed out the third for the mercy-rule win.
