WHS Athletic Hall of Fame — 2013 inductee Todd Mathison

— Staff Report

Todd Mathison, a 1990 graduate of Weatherford High School, will be inducted into the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday. The induction ceremony will be held in the Jerry Durant Auditorium at Weatherford High School and will begin at 9 a.m.

Mathison was an offensive lineman on the Kangaroos varsity football team from 1986-1990. His level of play during his senior year resulted in multiple honors and recognition. Todd was chosen First Team All-District and selected to the All State team, as well as being named All-Metro and All-American. Mathison was listed in the Top 100 recruits list and also made the 1990 All-Southwest Team.

The lineman was offered a full-ride scholarship to Texas A&M, attending 1990 through 1995. He was red-shirted as a freshman and then played the next four years under head coach R.C. Slocum. During those years, the Aggies were a top-five ranked team and were undefeated for three years in the Southwest Conference.

Mathison graduated with a science-discipline degree in 1995. After graduation, Todd went to work for Priester Supply Company selling electrical material and  has worked his entire career in the electrical distribution industry. He currently has a position at the Irby Company in the Packaging and Services group, specializing in large sub-station, distribution and transmission projects all over the U.S.

Todd and his wife, Dawn, have spent much of their free time following their daughter, Taylor, in her athletic endeavors. Taylor was a Lady Roo Softball player and also played on the select team, Batbusters Gold. Some of the earlier years of Taylor’s career saw her dad assisting in various coaching roles. Taylor is currently a sophomore year at Texas Tech, pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy.
