— Weatherford girls get in pre-season basketball games

Weatherford High School girls will get some idea of the shape their in before the season begins.

Tonight, the girls will be playing home non-conference games/scrimmages at Weatherford High School as follows:

5:30 p.m. — Freshman, Granbury vs. Weatherford    

5:30 p.m. — JV Girls (Gym 2), Granbury vs. Weatherford and LD Bell vs. Weatherford

6:30 p.m. — Varsity, Weatherford vs. LD Bell



Last chance for flag football registration

Weatherford Park and Recreation are offering a chance to get involved in an athletic activity before the holidays arrive.

Registration is under way for Adult Flag Football. This 5 on 5, non-contact league will play Tuesday evenings beginning Nov. 13. Each team will receive an eight game regular season, and those who finish in the top six advance to the playoffs.  

All games will be played on the Noon Lions Field at Soldier Spring Park.

Cost is $275 per team. Register in person at the old City Hall, at 119 Palo Pinto St., or over the phone at 817-598-4125.

Brock volleyball team sees great season

The Brock Lady Eagles finished off a perfect district 9AA season with a sweep of the Millsap Lady Bulldogs last Tuesday night. Set scores were 25-7, 25-8 and 25-9.

The Lady Eagles have four graduating seniors, Amy Henard, Braylee Flaska, Abbey Drillette and Kyndall Magyar.

The Lady Eagles finished district with a 10-0 record and a perfect 30-0 in set scores for the district season.

On Saturday, the Lady Eagles traveled to Abilene to take on the Lady Bulldogs of Wylie in a playoff warm-up match. The Lady Eagles swept the No. 1 ranked team in 3A for a second time this year. Set scores were 25-23, 25-15 and 25-21.

The Lady Eagles traveled to Springtown on Monday to play the Lady Porcupines in another playoff warm-up match.

The Lady Eagles have a bye in the bi-district round and will play the winner of the Whitesboro vs. Sunnyvale match that will be played at Anna High School tonight.

The Lady Eagles will play their area round game either Thursday or Saturday evening at a site yet to be determined.
