Area sports schedule — Week of February 25

Staff Report

Weatherford and Aledo softball get a taste of meaningful game play in their respective districts this week, before heading out to tournament competition one final time before league play consumes the schedule. The Lady Roos begin their 2013 campaign hosting Arlington Bowie on Tuesday at 6 p.m., while on the same date, the Ladycats travel to take on Western Hills’ Lady Cougars at 7 p.m.

Baseball and softball prep tourneys are plentiful in the coming week, though fans may still need to sport more layers of clothing for a bit longer to cheer in comfort. Weatherford College baseball and softball are also offering a steady fare, albeit mostly on the road, with North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) play soon to come, with the advent of March.

Area soccer teams have turned the corner on the first round of their respective district slates, and are in the home stretch to further establish postseason residency or notch a few more wins for posterity, as the case may be.

Weatherford College basketball plays its NTJCAC swan songs this week, with the men and women teams hosting Temple on Wednesday. The Lady Coyotes head west, with lofty expectations to boot, on March 7 for the Region V Tournament, while the men will look to improve fortunes next season.
