— Faced with a 1-0 deficit in the game count of a Class 2A Region II best-of-three series with Mt. Vernon after Thursday's 7-2 loss, Brock Lady Eagles softball rebounded with a vengeance on Saturday in Game 2.
Scoring eight runs in the first two innings and pounding out 17 hits for the game, combined with seven Mt. Vernon errors, Brock took the second game, 13-3, at Prosper High School.
Pitcher Morgan Ashmore destroyed Lady Lions pitching, hitting 4-of-5 with 5 RBIs in the game. Four other Lady Eagles had multiple-hits in the contests, with Haley Hardison and Shambrie Sanders poking three hits and two hits each from Krysten Marr and Jordin Albertson.
Brock completed the sweep for the day, and the series, in the rubber match Saturday, beating Mt. Vernon, 4-1. Marr stepped back in the circle for the Lady Eagles in the deciding game, scattering seven hits while allowing just a single run.
Marr also helped her cause with a 2-RBI single in the game, with runs also batted in by Ashmore and Albertson.
