The Aledo Ladycats used a 2-out, 2-run rally to complete a walk-off win in the first game of their Class 4A Region I semifinal series against El Paso Chapin on Friday. The series was played in Odessa. Using at least some of the emotional momentum from the win, the Ladycats completed the deal on Saturday, sweeping the best-of-three set with a 4-1 victory.
In Class 2A, Region II play, Brock’s Lady Eagles stumbled in Thursday’s game, dropping the Game 1 match to Mt. Vernon at Prosper High School, 7-3. With a day off between the first game and the second, the Lady Eagles warmed up their resolve, as well as their bats, returning to Prosper and pounding the Lady Lions in Game 2 on Saturday, 13-3. Brock scored a first-inning run in the third match, while chipping in three more the middle innings to win, 4-1. With Krysten Marr in the circle scattering seven hits and the defense behind her effective enough to hold Mt. Vernon to one run, Brock earned its regional final slot.
Brock will face Pilot Point in a best-of-three series for a state tournament berth. The teams will take the field at Saginaw’s Chisholm Trail High School for Game 1 on Thursday, and Game 2 on Friday, both with 7 p.m. starts. If a third game is needed, they will return on Saturday, also at 7 p.m.
Aledo heads west again, meeting Wolfforth Frenship in the Region I final. The best-of-three series begins Friday, with the first pitch slated for 7 p.m. at Abilene Christian University’s Poly Wells Field. Saturday’s match, also at ACU, will see a Noon start. If a rubber match is required, it will start 30 minutes after Game 2.
