Next up for the Ladycats, on Friday, is Western Hills. The match will close out district play for the year for Aledo. The Ladycats will travel to play in Fort Worth for a 7:30 p.m. start.
Springtown tops Steers, Bulldogs
Knotted at 22-all at the half, Springtown’s varsity boys found the hot hand in senior forward Thomas Loving after the break in a non-district contest on Saturday. Loving propelled the Porcupines to a 54-39 win over the Graham Steers, finishing with 19 points and the game’s high scorer, while also pulling down nine rebounds.
Pojo wasted little time getting out of the blocks on Monday, outscoring Millsap 16-6 in the first quarter and spending the rest of the contest increasing its lead en route to a 65-41 victory. Cole Allen and Caleb Brown led the scoring for Springtown, with 18 and 17 points, respectively, and Allen pulled down six offensive boards. Springtown improved to 11-6 on the season with the pair of wins.
Jaxon Martin led the Bulldogs’ effort in the match, scoring 15 points. Dalyn Clanin added 10 for Millsap.
Lady Hounds open district, edge Ponder
The Peaster varsity girls began their District 9-2A schedule Friday with a back-and-forth affair, but eventual win over Ponder, 31-29. Leading the way for the Lady Greyhounds was Olivia Seli, who had 10 points and 15 rebounds. Rachel Smith added 8 points for Peaster, with a half-dozen rebounds. Bailee Williams and Hannah Myers helped the defensive effort, holding Ponder’s top scorer to seven points.
Peaster continued its district slate on Tuesday, traveling to play state-ranked Alvord. The final score was unavailable at press time.
