Weatherford senior Hannah Wright has a singular motto she has adhered to thus far in her young life — “Passion has a funny way of trumping logic.”
Whether the phrase is a grounding mechanism to help steer decisions to the logic of the brain, or an inspirational tenet to help her achieve even loftier goals than logic dictates (or both), one thing is certain — the passion play she has acted out on the court for the Lady Roos during her volleyball career has taken her to the next level and the pursuit of her goals.
Hannah recently signed a letter-of-intent to attend and play volleyball at East Texas Baptist University.
The WHS senior’s recruiting process was very focused and ETBU had the prerequisites she was seeking.
“ETBU was the only school I looked at,” she said. “They were very welcoming and they’ve got a great volleyball program.”
Academically, the Marshall-based school also fit the bill for Wright’s future plans. She wants to get the proper credentials to eventually head up a nursing staff in an emergency room. That means Hannah will be pursuing an RN or BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
Marshall offers a location Wright is very happy with, so that she can make the road trip over a weekend if necessary.
As she prepares to make a new life while extending her volleyball career, Hannah proclaims that playing at Weatherford is an experience she will never forget. No doubt, that kind of passion will also help her for the next few years, as well.
