Tison takes two at Stephenville
Tison C-team quarterback Chandler Ware bounced a pass off a Stephenville Yellowjackets defender into the arms of Ethan Griffin who made his way to the end zone Tuesday for one of the Roos touchdowns Mason Mullins ran in another TD as Tison beat Stephenville, 12-6.
The B-team game held plenty of excitement, with Tison’s late surge just falling short as Stephenville won, 20-16. Tison scoring came from runs by Tim Kuritz, Defensively, Maberry picked an interception.
Tison’s A-team gave Weatherford its second win of the night and began with a fumble recovery on the opening kickoff. Corban Campbell scored four touchdowns, with another TD added by Ethan Irsik. Rushing for 2-point conversions were London Williams, Irsik and Israel Pulido, with a nice pass for another conversion from Dallas Gailey to Blake Burrows. Recording interceptions on the night were Evan Griffin and Blake Burrows. The final score was not available.
Two wins and a stalemate for Hall seventh grade teams
The Hall 7th-grade Black team came from behind with a fourth-quarter, fourth-down touchdown toss from QB Roberts to Thomas Magill, and with Roberts 2-point conversion tied Acton Middle school 28-28, which ended as the final score. The Roos also had scores from Tyler Clemens in the game.
The White team won 20-0, with Mathew Gray drawing first blood with a TD for the Roos. Jett Good added the 2-point conversion. On a defensive score, Ray Mendoza stripped the ball and ran 20 yards to the end zone. James McAfee scored six later in the game and Austin Christmas recovered a fumble to seal the shutout for the Roos.
Falling behind early and staying there for much of the game, despite Dominic Davi’s answering TD run, the Hall Blue team scored late for a 12-7 victory. At the end of a productive drive in the final period Stinson finished the march with a 1-yard plunge for the winning score with 40 seconds left. Yanez picked off an Acton pass as time expired.
Hall 8th-grade goes 2-1 vs. Granbury’s Acton Pirates
Hall’s 8th-grade Black Team began Tuesday with a 20-0 win over Acton Middle School. Colten Sorrels caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Preston Spivey for the first score. In the second quarter, Spivey forced a fumble, while Brayam Roman-Acosta added two sacks. In the 3rd Adam Smith would recover another fumble. Roman- Acosta added a 30-yard TD run, and Sy Landis intercepted a pass for 30-yard touchdown return. Spivey added the 2-point conversion.
In the White team’s game, Jose Galaz intercepted a Pirate pass as the Hall defense were en route to a shutout. The lone TD score in the game also came from the defense, with Don Stacks taking an interception return across the goalline. Angel Ascobar caught the 2-point conversion pass as the Roos won, 8-0.
The Blue team played a tough came but came up short, losing 12-8. Andrew McNay put the Roos on top early with a 60-yard TD reception from quarterback Lane Gilley. The defensive effort was led by Tyler Gray and Devin James.
Brock seventh-grade Eagles improve to 4-0 with two
Eagles top Kennedale
The 7th-grade Brock Eagles kept their win streak alive last week, defeating Kennedale 30-0. The Eagle defense has held opponents scoreless for 12-straight quarters.
The defense forced 5 turnovers, with the highlight being Tony Travis bursting through Wildcats line, forcing a fumble and then recovering the loose ball.
The offense rolled, and lit up the scoreboard early and often. Touchdowns were scored by Patino, Lightfoot, and Hardison.
The Brock Eagles deployed ball-control offense to grind out a 26-6 win over the Godley Wildcats, Tuesday at Eagle Field. The stingy Eagle defense held Godley without a first down for most of the first half, jumping out to a 20-0 lead before allowing a Godley score late in the game. Scoring touchdowns on the night for the Eagles were Trent Patino, Alex Beamer, Jackson Hardison, and Skyler Colllier. Hardison also punched in a 2-pt. conversion.
Defensively, the Eagles were led by outstanding play from Collier, Beamer, Hardison, Patino, Amery Hughes, and Clayton Cray. Beamer scored on a 60-yard punt return to highlight the special teams play. With the win, the 7th Grade Eagles run their record to 4-0 on the season.
Brock 8th-grade bounces Kennedale
Brock’s 8th-grade gridders continued their dominance defeating Kennedale 54-0, recently.
It was a great night offensively with everybody getting into the action. Touchdowns were scored by Young, Patino, Kurelic, Thornton, Perry, Harrah, and Revis Roth.
The Eagle defense dominated from the first snap to the final buzzer, pitching a convincing shutout. Blake Burdine had great game, recovering two fumbles. The Eagles are now 3-0 and were in action again on Thursday at Eagle Stadium against Chico.
