Aledo-ex Carolyn Clayton toted the hottest bat for the Coyotes, hitting 3-for-4 with four RBIs and scoring twice. One of Clayton’s strokes was a 2-bagger, and she was joined by Luci Ponce, Katy Vandewater and Kylie Studioso, who also hit doubles.
The domination continued in the second game of the double header, with WC beating the Lady Vikes, 25-11. WC hitters pounded out 19 hits, seven of those for home runs. Ponce, Vandewater, Clayton, Studioso each hit a dinger, with Azle-ex Emily Ditmore stroking two round-trippers.
Bearcats, Ladycats win district contests
A seventh-inning rally by FW Southwest fell way short on Tuesday in a District 7-4A match, as Aledo baseball won again, 9-2. Colton Clanton threw shutout ball for six innings, and was spelled by reliever Chris Reed in the final frame, who shut down the brief Raider insurgence. Caleb Frysinger went 2-for-3 and scored three runs to lead the Bearcat batters.
Aledo pitcher Lauren Craine struck out 11 Granbury hitters on Tuesday, as the Ladycats blanked the Lady Pirates, 6-0. Kori Kizer batted 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, leading a 10-hit attack by the Ladycats offense.
Aledo softball clinches the District 7-4A title outright with the win, closing out its district schedule Friday at Arlington Heights.
