WHS seniors go 8-for-8 on All-State Academic rolls

— Staff Report

Despite eight out-going seniors on the 2012-13 version of his Lady Roos, Weatherford girls soccer coach Tyler Kernan has reason to feel relatively positive about next season.

Looking deeper into the roster the loss of the Lady Roo seniors is offset by the plethora of underclassmen who will be returning to the pitch for the 2013-14 campaign.

There will also be formidable quality interspersed with the quantity of the younger players moving into their second, or third year of varsity experience.

An evident illustration is Cooper Mullins, entering her junior after being named the District 3-5A Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. Five more underclassmen were named to the all-district squad, led by four seniors providing an example of leadership for the coming years.

The seniors left another stellar legacy, with all eight         accomplishing the enviable achievement of earning spots on the All-State Academic rolls.

Sports Editor’s note: Athletic and academic honors awarded to the 2012-13 Weatherford Lady Roos soccer team were inadvertantly overlooked for publication when rosters were released. The Democrat regrets the oversight.
