The Aledo Ladycats hope to follow the lead of their baseball counterparts on Friday and Saturday. The Bearcats eliminated Burleson Centennial in Class 4A bi-district round last weekend. The Ladycats will face off against Centennial this weekend, looking forward to a similar result.

With a solid defense behind her Aledo pitcher Lauren Craine will step into the circle at Ladycats Field on Friday, as the girls in black and orange vie for a regional quarterfinal win against the Lady Spartans.

After a dominating bi-district series win over Waco University, the competition stiffened considerable in the Area round against Denton Guyer, though the Ladycats took the series in two games.

Centennial enters the series with two 2-game series wins as well, and are riding a 17-game win streak since losing to Burleson High in March. Aledo comes in with 18-straight Ws.

Friday’s game begins at 7:30 p.m., with the series moving to Centennial on Saturday, at 3 p.m.

The Bearcats won the last two games in their bi-district series with Centennial last week, after dropping the opener. For their Area series, Aledo draws Birdville, who eliminated Azle last weekend.

Aledo begins its series at Birdville on Friday, with a 7:30 p.m. first pitch. Hoping to steal the first game, the Bearcats will return home for Game 2, which has a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday. Should a rubber match be necessary, Aledo will still have the home-field advantage, with Game 3 beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of the second game.
