Miller, who played basketball at Lewisville High School and SMU, was an assistant under WHS Lady Roos basketball coach Darryn Shearmire and came to Weatherford after a three-year head coaching stint at Bridgeport High School.
“I think most of us knew we had our choice early-on in the interview with Coach Miller,” Scoggin said. “He displayed an excellent attitude and impressed us all with a great approach to tackling the head coaching position for Weatherford.”
Needing to fill the head coaching slot for boys’ soccer, WISD needed to look no further than its teaching staff. David Barclay, who has headed up the programs at Carrolton Newman High and Mansfield Timberview, has been a high school teacher for the past four years.
“That was a very fortunate situation for us — and Coach Barclay,” Scoggin said. “He’s very excited about getting back into coaching and we are glad to have him.”
Other new coaching additions include Jordan Coffman (asst. basketball/golf), Bo Jackson (Hall M.S.), Will Verstuyft (Hall M.S.), Cynthia Cooper (Tison M.S.), John Moody (football receiver coach/asst. track), Megan Torvil (asst. basketball/softball) and Brittany Springfield (Tison M.S.)
“We have very positive energy throughout our entire coaching staff — our new coaches as well as the quality staff we already have here,” Scoggin said. “All of our coaches are aware of my commitment to make all of our programs successful, and I believe they share the enthusiasm to do so — across the board.”
