Area volleyball playoffs - Three Parker County teams advance

The Aledo Ladycats dispatched Wichita Falls Rider in straight sets on Thursday, winning the Class 4A, Region I Area match with game counts of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-13. Aledo advances to the regional quarterfinals and will meet the winner of the Burleson-Denton Guyer match, which was set for Saturday. The Burleson Lady Elks, with a Top-10 Class 4A ranking by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, are one of the few teams who have beaten the Ladycats this year.

Springtown knocked off Glen Rose Friday in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, to win the Class 3A, Region I Area round, played at Brock High School. Pojo’s Ashley Mainord and Shelbi Meek led the offense with 19 and 18 kills, respectively.

The Lady Porcupines advance to the regional quarterfinals, and will face the winner of the Iowa Park - Alvarado match, which was contested on Saturday. 

Brock’s Lady Eagles beat back a tenacious Gunter squad on Saturday at Boswell High School, gaining a sweep in three close matches, 25-19, 26-24, 25-22. Brock moves on to face  Godley in the regional quarterfinals. The Lady Wildcats beat Pilot Point (3-2) on Thursday. At press time, the site and time were yet to be determined for the Brock-Godley match.
