WHS to host No. Crowley on Friday

Four games into the district season, the Weatherford Lady Roos face a semi-critical test on Friday. To keep pace with the cherished top four spots in District 3-5A, a win over North Crowley would be a nice early-season coup.

While WHS has already faced   Arlington's serious playoff contenders, (and North Crowley is about to) the Lady Roos are entering a first-round stretch of teams that should be inferior, talent-wise. Weatherford can move up in the standings during the stretch, and a win over the Lady Panthers would be a significant boost to their climb.

Aledo has also moved up — and not just to the top of the District 7-4A standings. The Ladycats' performances over the past few weeks has garnered the attention of the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA), who have moved Aledo into a top-five spot in the state rankings. At 4-0. (12-0 in game counts), the Ladycats take on Trimble Tech on Friday at Bearcat gym.

Ranked No. 3 in the Class 2A coaches poll, the Brock Lady Eagles  begin their district campaign on Friday, at Boyd. Springtown, who has quietly compiled an 18-2 non-district mark, hosts Diamond Hill on Friday.

That coaches will move on, due to advancement of career, life changes or a myriad of other influences, is a given. Aledo is not immune to the turnover, but is year-in and year-out apt to experience very modest changes, due to another myriad of positive factors.
