Nasty turn in weather prompts change in playoff dates

Weatherford Democrat

Staff Report

A wintry day in mid-spring has crunched some baseball and softball playoff dates into the weekend. Making the call on Thursday morning,  with a strong and chilly north wind, and some sideways sprinkling to complete the threat, the Weatherford Kangaroos will hold off on the start of a Class 5A bi-district series against Richland until Friday.

Game 1 is still in Richland with a 7 p.m. start, but will be played on Friday. The second game, at Curtis Field on Saturday, will begin at 3 p.m. If a third match is necessary, the teams will pack up and move to the TCU campus in Fort Worth, the neutral site for Game 3, set for 7:30 p.m.

The Brock Lady Eagles also proactively changed their slated appointment with Gunter’s Lady Tigers from Thursday to Friday. Game time is 7 p.m. Game 2, with Game 3 (if needed) will be played on Saturday. All games in the Class 2A, Area series will be played at Keller’s Central High School.

Aledo baseball, set to play at Burleson Centennial Thursday, in the first of a best-of-three series, intended to stay with their schedule just a few hours prior to Game 1.
