In the fifth inning of a previously scoreless ballgame, Sierra Bradshaw took care of the only RBI Brock would need with a single, driving in Haley Hardison. Pitcher Krysten Marr, with an errorless defense behind her, took care of the Whitewright hitters, pitching a 3-hit shutout as the Lady Eagles won Game 3 of a Class 2A Region II Quarterfinal match on Saturday, 1-0.

After dropping the first game of the best-of-three series in Whitewright, Brock held serve on its home field, beating the Lady Tigers 8-3 in an offensive display to set up the finale. Brock was trailing in Game 2 until a six-run burst in the bottom of the fourth gave it the lead for good.

A rash of doubles (Jordin Albertson, Smith, Maddie Cooper and Sierra Bradshaw) boosted the offense, with Bradshaw also hitting a triple. Haley Hardison had perfect on-base percentage, with two hits and two walks in the contest.

In the deciding match, Marr fanned eight Whitewright hitters  in her complete-game win.

Brock advances in the playoff brackets to face Mount Vernon who, according to the MaxPreps website, beat Prairiland over the weekend. The date, site for the regional semifinal is to be announced.
