Youth movement leads way for 7-4A All-District roster

— Staff Report

Aledo softball set the tone for the Class 4A, District 7 2013 All-District team. Despite its ‘senior-less’ lineup, the Ladycats dominated the all-district selections with three superlatives, four first-teamers and three second-team selectees.

Aledo sophomore Rhylie Makawe shared the district MVP award with Kendra Adams, a senior from Western Hills. Fellow sophs Alli Ramsey and Lauren Craine took Player of the Year honors for defense and pitching, respectively.

Overall, the young all-district team fielded just a half dozen seniors. Juniors led the number of selectees at 18 and there were 11 sophomores, with five of those from Aledo’s roster. There were also a handful of freshman in the 40-member A-D rolls. And Aledo was named he top coaching staff for 2013.
