Local player, coach selected for 2013 All-Star Games

Staff Report

Weatherford graduate and former Roos first baseman Dustin Williams was selected as a member of the Class 4A-5A North All-Stars by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, an annual showcase for the state's top players.

Due to an injury Williams suffered late in the regular season, he will be unable to play in the all-star game, which is slated for Saturday, June 15 at Dell Diamond, in Round Rock.

Dustin will return to the diamond after he heals — he signed a letter of intent last December to continue his baseball career and further his education at Oklahoma State University.

Just a week removed from a visit to Austin  at the UIL State Softball Championship Tournament last week, Aledo Head Coach Jeff Lemons will be heading south again next month, as he has been selected as head coach for the Class 4A-5A Red team at the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s All-Star Game. The game is set for 10 a.m. on July 12 at Red and Charline McCombs Field, in Austin.

A seniors-only event, Lemons will not get the opportunity to insert any of the Aledo Ladycats into the lineup — Aledo's state-tourney team was made up entirely of underclassmen.
