Spring Break baseball, softball results

(Continued)

WC’s offensive highlight was a two-hit, two-RBI performance from Zac Michener, who also hit a round-tripper.

The Coyotes play the rest of the conference series with Grayson on Saturday in Denison. The double headers is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

Ladycats bulldoze South Hills

Through its first four district tests, Aledo softball has compiled a 65-2 edge in runs while finishing off its opponents in 11 total innings. Fort Worth’s South Hills was the latest victim, surrendering nine runs to the Ladycat offense in the first inning on Monday at Ladycats Field.

Aledo had hits from 13 different players in the rout, with Alli Ramsey and Haylee Bowden stroking two hits each. Lauren Craine and Tori Gore shared work in the circle.

Aledo continues its 2014 District 7-4A campaign on Tuesday, traveling to meet O.D. Wyatt.

Brock sends Lady Bulldogs home early with 10-run frame

A home run from Haley Hardison and doubles from Krysten Marr and Jordin Albertson boosted the Lady Eagles’ offense on Tuesday, as it took Brock the minimum number of innings to defeat Millsap, 15-0.

In the circle, Marr threw just 38 pitches to dispatch the Millsap hitters as Brock’s defense played errorless ball.

The Lady Eagles took the rest of Spring Break off from competition and will host Paradise on Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. start.

WC splits with top-ranked McLennan

The Weatherford College Lady Coyotes blemished the McLennan College NTJCAC conference record on Wednesday and nearly doubled the damage in two close ball games played at Stuart Field.

After dropping the first decision in a close contest, 4-2, the WC women entered into a pitcher’s duel in the nightcap, beating the Highlassies, 1-0.

With a 5-3 conference record, WC is currently positioned with the top four teams, who are separating from the rest of the NTJCAC. The Lady Coyotes play a double header on Saturday in Temple.

  • Summer athletic camps — July/August

    Staff Report

Summer athletic camps become a bit more “meaningful” in the late days of July and into  August, at least for some high school and middle school athletes.

In most cases, the youth football camps include grades 6 through 8, and though there is no contact involved, some of the instructors of he camp may be getting a preview of the talent coming their way in just a few short weeks.

Team volleyball camps, stretching from grades 4 through 12, provides a segway for many of the campers who will soon be entering workouts for the impending volleyball season.
