Aledo, Springtown clench clinches

Staff Report

The Aledo Bearcats assured a postseason slot a couple of weeks (and wins) ago, and with the 63-0 romp past Granbury on Friday, clinched at least a share of the District 7-4A title. A Parent Night win Friday secures an undisputed district championship for Aledo.

For the first time in the school’s history, and unless really strange things happen in Week 10, Aledo will find itself in the Class 4A, Div. I bracket, and will likely meet Cleburne or Crowley in the bi-district round.

With another convincing District 6-3A win, this time  over Mineral Wells last Friday (47-6), Springtown clinched a playoff return after sitting out postseason last year. Pojo will play its second game this season at Farrington Field when it meets FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis on Thursday.

A probable win (the Eagles are scoreless in district play), the Porcupines will nail down second place and go to the Class 3A, Div. II playoffs, likely matching up  first against the Vernon Lions from District 5-3A.
