Homecoming, Alvord on tap Friday for Lady Eagles

The Brock defense pitched a second-quarter shutout at Ponder on Tuesday, remaining undefeated in district play with a 46-24 win over the Lady Lions.

Taylor Wallace was perfect from long range (4-for-4) and tied Braylee Flaska  for high-scoring honors with 12 points. Lexie Ducat added 10 points.

Brock will celebrate its Homecoming on Friday, hosting Alvord. Also of note, Brock (9-0) can clinch a share of the District 9-2A title with a win.

WHS upset bid falls short

The Lady Roos caught Arlington Bowie with a short bench on Tuesday, but failed to capitalize, losing to the Lady Vols in a low-scoring District 3-5A contest, 37-25. Tied at four at the end of the opening period, Bowie built a 16-point margin over the next two quarters.

Dropping to a 6-4 record with the loss and tied with Arlington Martin for third in the standings, the WHS girls can help themselves, as they are set to meet the Lady Warriors on home court, Friday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Poolville improves to 4-0

Staff Report

The Poolville Monarchs finished the first round of district play with a 4-0 record, defeating the Dragons at Chico on Tuesday, 80-57. Holding Chico to a lone field goal in the first quarter, Poolville jumped out to a 19-3 lead.

Alex Rodriguez led the Monarchs  with 27 points, and Tanner Dobbs followed with 17. Jonathan Arbuckle and Coy O’Boyle each scored 12. 

Poolville, has an overall season record of 25-6, and will enjoy bye on Friday. District play picks back up on Tuesday, hosting Ranger.

    Apparently being lauded for, among other coaching triumphs during the prep baseball season, Class 4A mentors Chad Barry (Aledo) and  Wes Kolle (Victoria East) shared the honors of Coach of the Year as selected by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA)in an announcement released on Wednesday.
