2013 APC volleyball roster simply ‘Super’
Overall, the prep volleyball teams of Parker County may have fallen a bit short of last season’s accomplishments (just barely), but that factor was hardly a reflection on the calibre of players area teams continue to display.
Nearly all of the area squads were prevalent in their respective districts, and individually were more than significant, with 15 players being named to their district’s superlative categories.
Icy weekend cues busy slate for Monday
Of the area schools, especially those possibly relative to Aledo’s future, only a pair got the opportunity to settle pairings over the weekend. Though Mesquite Poteet may now have misgivings about the decision to charge into the freezing precipitation, the Class 4A Division II foe for half of the semifinal pairing has been determined.
CommEd youth tourney closes fall basketball league
Weatherford ISD’s CommEd department recently concluded its youth basketball fall league with a tournament. Winning the Boy’s 5th/6th-grade division were the “Mavericks” coached by Sumer Foreman. Earning a second-place finish in the division were the “Hornfrogs.”
All-district volleyball - Classes 2A & 1A
Two of the three Parker County-based Class 2A teams advanced to postseason play, as did Poolville in Class 1A. A quick look at the number of underclassmen on the all-district rolls indicates more success ahead for local volleyball squads.
All-district volleyball - Classes 5A-4A-3A
Parker County volleyball polished off another stellar district-play year in November. The counties’ schools netted two outright district titles, a district co-champion, a district runner-up and a playoff-qualifying third-place finisher.
Icy forecasts (may) spawn slate scurries
The gloom and doom local forecasts the various weather bureaus have predicted for the weekend has already had an effect on previously-scheduled events in the area.

WISD CommEd ends youth cager leagues with tourney
The WISD CommEd Fall Youth Basketball League recently held its league-ending tourney at Hall Middle School. Winning first place in the 3rd/4th-grade division were The Cowboys. Earning second in the division were The Mavericks.

Wintry-weather potential prompts change for Aledo-Wichita Falls match
