New Year’s Day means closings for some

Wednesday is New Year’s Day, a federal, state and local holiday.

That means federal, state, county and city offices as well as banks and post offices will be closed Wednesday.

City of Weatherford sanitation and recycling services will not take place Wednesday. The makeup day for Wednesday’s customers is Thursday. All other sanitation and recycling services will resume on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day.

The Weatherford Democrat will also be closed Wednesday, reopening for regular business Thursday morning. There will be no publication of a newspaper Wednesday.

The WD wishes you a happy New Year’s holiday and asks you be safe in your travels and outings. Please don’t drink and drive.
