An 18-year-old North Richland Hills woman was arrested this past week, accused of impersonating a Parker County teen on sex websites.

Victoria “Tori” Elizabeth Varnes faces a third-degree felony charge of online impersonation with intent to harm, defraud, intimidate or threaten.

The victim’s mother contacted authorities in August regarding internet harassment, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office report. The teen’s mother alleges Varnes was using pictures of Varnes’ own body under the name of the woman’s daughter on several sex websites.

Varnes declined to talk to Parker County Sheriff’s Investigator Louis Sherman, he wrote in a probable cause affidavit.

However, in September, the victim’s mother provided the investigator a handwritten letter with Varnes’ signature and an Arlington return address, according to Sherman.

The letter reportedly stated: “I’m sorry my actions have caused you personal embarrassment. It wasn’t my intention to harm you in any way or impersonate you. It is unfortunate that I chose a screen name that may be confused with yours.”

Varnes was released Tuesday from the Parker County Jail on $7,500 bond.

The Democrat left a message for Varnes but was unable to reach her Friday.
