LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Communities will miss the work, caring of Dr. Singh

Communities will miss the work, caring of Dr. Singh

Dear Editor,

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, well over a hundred well-wishers joined together at Palo Pinto General Hospital to congratulate Dr. Lakheram Singh on his retirement from active practice, after more than 36 years of dedicated service to the people of this county and North Texas.

In those three plus decades, Dr. Singh and his lovely wife, Pawan, were active members of the Mineral Wells community, raising three children who now have families of their own. No one knew the impact that the young doctor arriving at PPGH in 1977 would have on the area. Today we can look back and judge how fortunate we were that he brought his family to join our family those many years ago.

His service in the emergency room, the Rural Family Clinic, and in private practice touched countless lives. He never turned away a patient, regardless of financial resources. As in the tradition of the respected country doctor, he gave the best treatment possible to all who passed through his door.

Dr. Singh welcomed countless babies into this world; he celebrated the good news of a health report with patients; and he consoled loved ones when a family member passed. He laughed with us. He cried with us. He cared. We are all better today because Dr. Lakheram Singh came our way.

Thank you sir, from your friends, patients, and neighbors who will always keep you in our hearts and prayers.

J.C. Colton, board president
