A pre-emptive shot: flu vaccine clinics Saturday

The Parker County Hospital District will be offering seasonal flu vaccines on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m.-noon, at three locations in Parker County.

This is the second year to provide drive-thru flu shots in Aledo, Brock and Springtown. The convenience of staying in your vehicle while getting vaccinated was the draw for the 300-plus who attended last year. Flu vaccinations will be offered for those ages 9-18 years at no cost, while adults are $15. Blue Cross Blue Shield/United/Cigna and Medicare can be filed.

The clinic locations are:

• Aledo – Bearcat Stadium parking lot (1000 Bailey Ranch Road).

• Brock – 400 Eagle Spirit Lane.

• Springtown – 501 Pojo Drive (Springtown ISD Transportation barn).

“With all the media attention about the new four-strain flu vaccine and the importance in getting it, we encourage the public to come out this Saturday,” said hospital district CEO Randall Young. “Last year was the first year and the numbers were less than expected. We want to grow this event each year and possibly expand in adding additional locations throughout Parker County.”

A consent form is required and can be downloaded in advance at www.parkercountyhd.org. Click on “Calendar of Events” and then on the flu consent form. For more information call 817-341-2520.
