WISD student charged with making threat

A Weatherford ISD student was taken into custody Wednesday morning after leaving campus and charged by the Weatherford Police Department for making a terroristic threat.

“Safety continues to be our top priority,” Weatherford ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hanks said. “Also, I would like to thank the Weatherford Police Department for taking such swift action.”

Dr. Hanks said the student had been on the alternative campus earlier that morning where he made a poor decision by making inappropriate comments.

“Inappropriate comments – especially in today’s sensitive environment – will not be tolerated,” Dr. Hanks said.

As with all disciplinary cases, the district will follow procedures outlined in the Student Code of Conduct, district official said.
