Lake Mineral Wells State Park among those offering ‘First Day Hike’ program

PARKER COUNTY – Lake Mineral Wells State Park and Trailway is among parks in all 50 states offering a “First Day Hikes” event to begin the new year.

According to information provided by Texas Parks and Wildlife, the first two-hour local hike will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a second at 2 p.m.

Officials say the hike will include strenuous physical activity, including crawling through tight spaces and through short caves.

The First Day Hike is included in the cost of park admission or with a state park pass.

Anyone interested in participating can contact Park Interpreter David Owens at (940) 328-1171.
