Weatherford/Parker County Committee on Aging officials are looking for donations to help their Meals on Wheels program, but not in the way you might think.
WPCCA Development Officer Kristen Lilley said recently the organization had received a $10,000 matching grant from an Austin group that wished to remain anonymous. To get the grant, however, the group must raise $10,000 in donations by April 29.
“It’s really a great thing to have a $10,000 donation,” Lilley said. “Now we need to come up with the other $10,000.”
Lilley and the rest of the WPCCA group have been the beneficiary of a land donation for a Senior Center on the west side of town in recent weeks. The matching grant was announced at a recent fundraiser and Lilley said a fair amount of money was raised that night but more is needed to reach the goal.
Meals on Wheels locally serves more than 150 seniors. Hot meals are delivered to Weatherford residents
Monday through Friday with cold meals delivered to Parker County residents every two weeks.
