Smith named new Democrat publisher

Smith began his duties Tuesday, while Killion will begin her new assignment Monday. Killion is a 14-year veteran of the newspaper business.

She became the Democrat’s publisher in June 2011, having been advertising director at The Valdosta Daily Times in Georgia before that.

“We appreciate the job that Julie has done in Weatherford,” said McPhaul. “She has accomplished much, and we are grateful for her contributions. We look forward to watching her build on her successes in Terre Haute, which is a larger market and an important one for CNHI.”

Killion, who will remain at the Democrat through the end of the week before assuming her new position, said, “I have really enjoyed my time in Weatherford and the friendships I have made here. I leave the paper in Jeff’s capable hands.”
