Local quilt guild produces more award-winning quilts

Members of the Quilter’s Guild of Parker County garnered ribbons in the Trinity Valley Quilt Guild Annual Quilt Show Sept. 20-22 in Fort Worth.

The 2013 Guild Raffle Quilt, “Tulips of Brazos Valley,” received third place in the Group/Friendship category. The quilt was pieced by members Betty New and Donna Motley and quilted by member Jo Lynn O’Neil of Lone Camp Quilting. This quilt will be given away during the “Christmas on the Square” festivities.  Tickets are available from Trish Fowlkes at 682-229-8744.

“Prairie Flowers,” pieced by Peggy Sympson, of Fort Worth, and quilted by QGPC member and long arm quilter Shelley Pace, of Wild Prairie Rose Quilting, received third place in the Mixed Technique category.

“Arlington,” pieced by member Dianna Carter-Hinz and quilted by Jo Lynn O’Neil, received first place in Medium Pieced/Machine Quilted.

“Civil War Crisscross,” also pieced by Carter-Hinz and quilted by O’Neil, received honorable mention in Group/Friendship as well as Judge’s Choice and Viewer’s Choice ribbons.

“Me and My Sister,” pieced by Leslie Carnihan, of Fort Worth, and quilted by her sister, O’Neil, received third place in Large Pieced/Machine Quilted.

Jo Lynn also pieced and quilted “Cherry Wood Jewels” in Medium Pieced/Machine Quilted, “Mini Fall Sampler” in Miniature Quilts and “Vickie’s Baskets” in One Person Machine Quilted which all received honorable mention in their respective categories.

Guild members are already working on quilts for the next Quilter’s Guild of Parker County Quilt Show which will be held Sept. 26 and 27, 2014, at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Grounds Building.

Quilter’s Guild of Parker County meets the third Thursday evening of each month in the Great Hall of the Grace Presbyterian Church, 606 Mockingbird Lane, with visitation beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting commencing at 7 p.m.
