By CHRISTIN COYNE

A Parker County man wanted in connection with a Wednesday night robbery and assault that left a man hospitalized reportedly eluded deputies attempting to arrest him Thursday evening. He was not as elusive Friday evening.

Authorities said Ronald Wayne Strickland, 29, was arrested Friday night though details of the arrest could not be learned Saturday. He was charged with robbery and remained in Parker County Jail Saturday evening. No bond amount had been set.

Strickland fled from his home in the 2600 block of Old Brock Road Thursday night when law enforcement attempted to a serve a warrant, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office. Officers called for assistance but were unable to locate Strickland during a two-hour search of the area.

A 57-year-old man was reportedly beaten and bound in his residence in the 200 block of Montgomery Lane around 11 p.m. Wednesday. The man reportedly told deputies that an acquaintance and another man knocked on his door and he allowed them inside. Once inside the two suspects assaulted the man and tied his feet and hands with duct tape and took a flat-screen television and two rifles from his residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were called when the victim reportedly escaped and ran to a nearby relative’s home. Though the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, his injuries were not believed to be life threatening, officials said.

Strickland has prior convictions involving burglary, theft and drugs, according to Parker County court records.

Authorities have not released any information on the second suspect.
