Johnny Cash birthday bash tribute Saturday at the Texas Opry Theater

“Hello … I‘m Johnny Cash,” possibly the most recognized introduction in live concert history, will be heard once again in Weatherford.

“Walkin’ The Line,” the nation’s top and most-authentic tribute to the late Johnny Cash, June Carter and The Tennessee Three will bring their highly acclaimed show to Texas Opry Theater this Saturday.

Tickets are $15 reserved purchased in advance by credit or debit card at www.texasoprytheater.com or by calling 817-341-1000; or $20 general seating at the door, if available.

Seasoned entertainer and tribute artist Bennie Wheels brings back to life the look, voice and charisma of the young Johnny Cash in his prime, the “Folsom Prison” era. But what pushes this sincere tribute to The Man in Black over the edge is Bennie’s actual wife, Reneé, who portrays June Carter just as convincingly with the look, voice and ball-of-fire attitude that only June possessed. Together, they share the same genuine love and chemistry that the legendary “Johnny and June” brought to the stage.

“Not only is the music we recreate note for note, but also the exact sound that everyone loves and remembers,” said Bennie Wheels. “We would never try to change perfection. Our goal is to be the closest thing to seeing Johnny Cash live in concert. There will never be another Johnny Cash. We are simply celebrating his musical legacy and trying to bring back a few memories with other fans such as ourselves.”

Backing the Wheels is a three-piece group – Dave Ervin (guitar), Franchot Johnston (stand-up bass) and Martin McCall (drums).

Johnny Cash would have been 81 on Feb. 26th, and “Walkin’ The Line” is excited to be celebrating his life by paying tribute to him in Weatherford this year. For more info on “Walkin’ The Line,” visit www.texasoprytheater.com.
