South Main lane closure this week

Drivers who access Bethel Road from South Main may want to try an alternate route beginning Monday.

This coming week, through Friday,  the southbound lane of South Main Street that currently provides dedicated right-turn access to Bethel Road will be closed for construction.

Drivers can still access Bethel Road by continuing south on South Main and turning right at the traffic light. Traffic is expected to be heavy on South Main, potentially backing up to and through the Park Avenue intersection; therefore alternate routes are advised if at all possible.

It will not be the end of the closures in the area. The dedicated right turn lane will be closed again Sunday, July 14 at 5 p.m. and will reopen Monday, July 15 at 5 a.m.

City officials made a designated right turn lane from South Main onto Bethel more late last year, which they say has helped alleviate traffic in the area.
