MILLSAP MATTERS: Millsap welcomes peach riders

Right now our best means of helping is to donate shelf-friendly food to the Millsap First Baptist Church Food Pantry. The pantry is open every Tuesday, 8:30-10 a.m. Experts report that pantries get in more dire need of contributions in the warm months than in cold months. Millsap is a giving, caring community so please help if at all possible.

The Millsap Chapter of Masons is looking forward to a special annual event, which will take place on July 16. The group will come together at 6 p.m. for an evening that will include the installation of officers for the year. Russell Herrick will be installed as Master of the Lodge.

He is sure to excel in this capacity as he has the heart of a true volunteer and serves not only in the Masons, but in other organizations, and particularly those involving Veterans. We are looking forward to the installation ceremony for this community-minded group, as it’s sure to be a wonderful event.

The Millsap Quilting Club is staying busy this summer with a multitude of beautiful works of art in progress. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Millsap Methodist Church at 9 a.m. The church has graciously opened its doors to the ladies for the last 17 years, and it is a great set-up as the quilters have room for all of their sewing machines, ironing boards, and other equipment. There is an atmosphere of good fellowship and friendship in the air as work is carried on amidst conversation. To finish up the meeting the ladies have lunch together. This is a very friendly group, and they welcome anyone interested in quilting, from beginners to masters.

In conjunction with their group the ladies want everyone to know that member Connie Holland is opening up a Quilt Shop on the Old Millsap Hwy on the way into Mineral Wells. It already has a banner in the yard with the shop’s name, Hen’s Nest, on it.
