— Theatre Off The Square presents the first production of its 2014 Season, “Rex’s Exes,” written by Jones-Hope-Wooten, and produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service Inc.
The comedy is directed by Jon R. Kruse, with Roberta Furman and Holly Kiehn as assistant directors and Hank Minor as stage manager.
This long-awaited, much-anticipated sequel to “The Red Velvet Cake War” finds us returning to the arms of the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum, Texas, who, as usual, are teetering on the brink of disaster. As the outrageous complications of this ferociously funny Jones-Hope-Wooten comedy explode into chaos, you’ll find yourself hoping your next family celebration – be it birthday, wedding or funeral – is even half this much fun!
Members of the cast are Laurie Jones as Cee Cee Windham; Cynthia Daniels as Gaynelle Verdeen; Debra Gass as Jimmy Wyvette Verdeen; Peggy Osburn as Peaches Verdeen Belrose; Selita Sprunger as La Merle Verdeen Minshew; Don Watson as Aubrey Verdeen; Julie Campbell as Bitsy Hargis; Scott Campbell as Theodore Rexford Belrose; Rachel Cupina as Gentle Harmony; Darlene Woodruff as Mama Doll Hargis; Kathy Manning as Marlissa Crutchfield; and Wally Jones as Wild Bill Boudreaux.
The show begins Friday, Jan. 31, and runs weekends through Feb. 16. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
