MILLSAP MATTERS: Local fundraising, socializing on Millsap calendars

By SHARRON HUDSON

MILLSAP – Most people love to eat out and socialize and those around here are going to have fantastic opportunities to do both on the first two Saturdays in February. There will be benefits held on each of these two days.

Looking toward Feb. 1, local resident Sandy Barnes Lee will be the recipient of proceeds from a taco dinner and silent auction. As publicized recently in some newspapers, Sandy has been in intensive care for several weeks fighting a severe case of flu/pneumonia. She has always been a hard worker and is a Beall’s employee. As in all households, the bills keep coming in, plus there will now be medical fees. Therefore, friends in the community have put together this event to help out.

It will take place at Millsap Community Center beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the meal and auction. The cost is $7 for two tacos or $8 for three tacos, plus there will be rice, beans, chips, salsa, dessert and tea included. The food will be served until it’s all gone and the auction will end at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to help by donating food items call 940-682-1949 by Jan. 29. Monetary donations may be made at First Financial Bank in Mineral Wells. For more info call 940-682-7473. Come, enjoy yourself, and help Sandy.

The next Saturday evening, Feb. 8, will be the Millsap Neighborhood Ladies Home and Garden Club Lamplight Spaghetti Dinner. It will be held at Millsap Community Center, 4-8 p.m., and new details include that there will be a raffle with five great prizes all worth more than $50 each. Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5.

They can be purchased at the door or to get them ahead of time call 817-360-6681. The drawing will be during the dinner at 7:30 p.m. and you need not be present to win.
