Excellence, class and enthusiasm.
Those were just some of several kinds words used to describe Linda Bagwell as Weatherford College bid farewell to one of its long-time employees at a special retirement reception Thursday afternoon.
Bagwell, who served as the director of communications and public relations, came to Weatherford College 12 years ago from Tarrant Community College.
“When I hired Linda, it was a no-brainer,” said Brent Baker, vice president of institutional advancement. “Linda has built something here at Weatherford College and she’s taken it to another level. Her lasting legacy is heart.
“The college is in such great shape right now and I think Linda is one of the reasons.”
Baker outlined the role Bagwell has played in the department, as a coworker that has provided a bright spot to everyone around her.
“She’s the glue that holds our department together.”
With family, friends and fellow Weatherford College staff showing their support in attendance Thursday, Bagwell was presented with a cake, a slideshow put together by her daughter, a crystal plaque and a lifetime membership to the Weatherford College Alumni Association.
Several attendees also shared their fond memories of working with and knowing Bagwell during the reception.
“I’ve been very privileged to work here. I can really understand what they mean when they say its so hard to say goodbye to family,” she said. “Part of me will always be here. I just hope that I’ve made a contribution and influenced people along the way.”
Replacing Bagwell as director of communications is Crystal Brown.
