Hospital district seeks persons interested in filling open seat

By CHRSTIN COYNE

Those interested in serving on the Parker County Hospital District Board of Directors are encouraged to contact district CEO Randall Young or a current elected board member.

Young said he expects to present a list to the board during their upcoming February meeting of those who have expressed a desire to fill the newly vacant position resulting from the death of long-time Precinct 2 representative James Austin, who died suddenly Jan. 3.

The board is expected to appoint a representative for Precinct 2 to fill the vacancy through November 2016.

Residents of Precinct 2 who are at least 18 years old are eligible for the position.

Those interested in the position can contact the district at (817) 341-2520.

Parker County residents have also lacked representation during meetings in recent months from Nolan Queen, who was elected to represent Parker County at-large.

After a director misses three meetings, the district sends a letter to the individual, Young said.

Though Queen has not attended a board meeting since April due to health issues, nothing in the board’s bylaws allows for the removal of a director for non-attendance.

Queen’s four-year term expires in November, according to Young.

A message left for Queen Monday afternoon seeking to obtain information on his plans regarding his position was not returned by close of business Tuesday.
