TOTS announces audition dates for performance of ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’

Theatre Off The Square has announced a call for auditions for its production of “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

The play is written by Joseph Kesserling, produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service and directed by Cynthia Daniels.

The story centers around Martha and Abby Brewster, charming and innocent ladies, who populate their cellar with the remains of socially and religiously “acceptable” roomers – the antics of their nephew who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt; another nephew, a good-hearted cynic about to have his world turned upside down; and still another nephew, a psychopath, who resurfaces and is a bit oversensitive about his “new appearance.”

The cast will consist of two women in their late 60s to 70s; a woman in her middle 20s to 30; and 11 men ages 30 to 70 (some of the men are bit parts). Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. A perusal copy is available at the theatre.

Auditions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, and Tuesday, Feb. 25. Call backs will be on Wednesday, Feb. 26, also at 6:30 p.m. All auditions will be in the Green Room at Theatre Off The Square, 114 N. Denton, Weatherford (817-341-8687).

Rehearsals begin in March. Production dates are May 2-18. Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
