Lady Coyotes prep for Region V Tournament

The Weatherford College Lady Coyote basketball team, for the fourth straight year, is heading to the postseason.  The Lady Coyotes will face Midland College in the first round of the Region V Tournament at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 at Lubbock Christian University.

WC (20-3) enters the postseason riding a nine-game winning streak, including a 113-71 win at Southwestern Christian Wednesday to finish the regular season. Weatherford, ranked 18th in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division I poll, won its third straight conference title and will be the top seed from the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

The Lady Coyotes have missed the postseason only one time in 23 years under Coach Bob McKinley.

The winner of Thursday’s game will play in the semifinal Friday at 5 p.m. The championship game will be Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Region V champion will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Salina, Kan. March 17-22. The Lady Coyotes advanced to the 2013 National Tournament.
