Free public health fair Saturday at FUMC

The Third Annual Community-wide Health Fair is Saturday, Oct. 5, at First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center, 301 S. Main St., in Weatherford.

The fair will take place 8 a.m. to noon and is free to the public.

There will be free Lipid panel (fasting) and complete blood count testing provided by Palo Pinto General Hospital Lab and collected by Weatherford College Phlebotomy students.

Parker County Hospital District will offer flu vaccines for $15, or free to Medicare recipients and to 9-18 year olds with parental consent. PCHD will also file on BC/BS, United Healthcare and Cigna insurances.

There will be a variety of health-care exhibitors including chiropractors, dentists, hospice, home health, etc. Blood pressure and blood oxygen levels can be assessed. There will be free information on a variety of health-related topics, such as how to dispose of old medications.

Children will be able to have their picture taken with McGruff, the crime dog between 9:15 a.m. and 10 a.m., and the Weatherford Fire Department will have a fire truck on display from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
