HUDSON OAKS – Any high school student in need of a summer job that enjoys fun in the sun, listen up.
Splash Kingdom Wild West Waterpark is still looking for applicants for about 140 to 150 seasonal positions to work in such areas as lifeguards, customer service, parking attendants, food service and more. Officials from the waterpark, which is scheduled to open in early June in Hudson Oaks, said that while the hiring process has begun, there are still spots available.
“We’ve already gone to each of the area high schools and passed out applications but anyone interested can still download an application, fill it out and bring it by our trailer on the construction site Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” Joel Schuh with Splash Kingdom said Tuesday. “We are still interviewing and hope to have everyone hired by the first of May.”
Splash Kingdom representatives spoke to Weatherford Rotary Club members Tuesday at North Side Baptist Church about the park. Company President Johnny Blevins said work on the park is coming along nicely. When hiring his seasonal help, he admits he has high standards.
“We ask on our applications whether he or she can do without their cell phone for more than four hours at a time,” Blevins said. “We tell those we hire that appropriate dress and good manners are always in style.”
The company will then provide those hired with a solid foundation for work history which they can take with them for the rest of their lives. Application forms can be downloaded at splashkingdomwaterpark.com
Blevins also gave an update on progress of the park, which can be easily seen from the highways that run along side of the park, which is done for a reason.
“Much of the park has been cut into the 70-foot high rock to maintain the authenticity of a wild west town, so you’re not going to be able to see it,” Blevins said. “We came in here knowing we wanted to utilize as much of the natural landscape, like the yucca plants, as possible and I think we’re going to be able to do that.”
