Fatality accident found by construction crew

WEATHERFORD — Weatherford police were investigating a fatality wreck Thursday night on Interstate 20 between the Center Point bridge and the East Bankhead bridge that was spotted by area workers that evening.

A construction crew walking in the area located the vehicle, which was not visible to drivers passing on the highway, in a creek or culvert, according to Weatherford Police Lt. Chris Crawford.
The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was westbound on I-20 and traveled between the guardrail and wires between the east and westbound lanes before ending up in the creek area, Crawford said.
It appears to have been there for some time, though, it was not clear if it was hours or days, according to police.
One person was found dead at the scene though the victim had not yet been identified late Thursday.
The advanced accident team was investigating and the body was expected to be transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.
Eastbound traffic was delayed as the right lane was closed for the emergency personnel at the wreck and construction in the area.
