Food, music and, of course, fireworks set for Boomin’ 4th

(Continued)

Before the fireworks show, ceremonial parachutist former U.S. Army Golden Knight members Dana Bowman will be parachuting into the Boomin’ 4th event. Bowman has astounded the nation and the world with his drive, determination, and will to succeed.

Bowman is a retired sergeant first class with the U.S. Army where he was a special forces soldier and a member of the U.S. Army’s elite parachute team. Bowman is a double amputee, having lost his legs in an accident during a Golden Knights training exercise in Yuma, Ariz., in 1994.

Nine months later, he turned this tragedy into a triumph when he became the first double amputee to re-enlist in the United States Army. Bowman has amazed people in hundreds of jumps since the accident.

The public has a chance to enter for a chance to jump tandem with U.S. Navy Seal Isaiah Maring (Act of Valor) from 10,000 feet on during the July 4th event. Jump time is about 8:30 p.m. with the drawing to be held at about 8 p.m. at the event.

Raffle tickets are being sold for $10 at the East Parker County Chamber office, 100 Chuck Wagon Trail, in Willow Park. A limit of 650 tickets will be sold, Flowers said, with just over 200 sold so far. Unsold tickets before the event will be on sale at the event, Flowers said.

Picnics can be brought into the park or enjoy some of the fantastic samplings from the food vendors. On hand will be plenty of hot dogs, nachos, corn dogs, barbecue, cold sweet tea, snow cones and for the sweet tooth, some delectable gourmet cupcakes.
