Annual Heater Drive Kicks Off with New Event

The Weatherford Police Department and Weatherford Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association will kick off the Annual Heater Drive, which benefits Parker County senior citizens, Saturday at Lowe’s Home Improvement, located at 118 Interstate 20 East, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An addition to the regular events will be a Haircuts for Heaters Drive, sponsored by Weatherford High School’s cosmetology department. Cosmetology staff and students will be on site, offering haircuts for heaters, with all of the donations benefitting the heater drive.

“We’re excited to have the high school’s cosmetology department join our efforts this year,” Weatherford police chief Mike Manning said. “It’s always a pleasure to see our local youth getting involved with community service efforts.”

For more information on Haircuts for Heaters, call 817-598-2858, ext. 3789.

Next weekend, Weatherford Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association volunteers will continue the drive Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Weatherford and Hudson Oaks Walmarts, as well as Lowe’s Home Improvement.

New electric heater donations or monetary contributions may also be dropped off at the Weatherford Police Department, located at 801 Santa Fe Dr., or at the Parker County Senior Center, located at 1225 Holland Lake Dr.
